Ms. Kuepper started her career at GAF 28 years ago with a variety of land cover and land use mapping projects covering big parts of Europe, but also abroad, mainly in Africa and Central Asia. She grew particularly into the Technical Assistance Business and has pioneered there the utilization of spatial information, mostly based on earth observation technology. Large Projects in Central Asia dealing with water, land and natural resources have been managed by her. Land management and resilience to environmental challenges, cadastral & registration systems for land ownership and mineral titles have been a focus for her work since. At the moment she is the deputy for the technical assistance section of GAF, and works currently in Sudan, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mongolia, and organizes the project acquisition for the full perimeter of GAF consulting projects.
Abstract of Speech
The longest-standing partner to ANTRIX / ISRO in commercializing Indian Earth observation data outside of the sub-continent is GAF, a Germany-based company with a focus on the down-stream EO service sector. This successful cooperation lasts now for more than 20 years and is meant to expand further, recently supported inter alia by an agreement between both organisations. The presentation will focus on the important role of Indian EO data by helping to launch a number of first, uniform Europe-wide mapping- and monitoring services in the frame of the Copernicus Programme in the Pre-Sentinel era. A second part will demonstrate the value of the Indian data – together with other commercial and non-commercial EO sources including massive in-situ data – in an African environment on a regional and country level for an urgently needed sustained management of environmental and natural resources information.
